Internet services disrupted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi

ISLAMABAD: Internet services were partially disrupted in parts of Islamabad and Rawalpindi on Sunday, affecting mobile data and Wi-Fi users in several areas.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said the disruption was caused by damage to a telecom operator’s network infrastructure. The issue affected some service providers in local and nearby areas of the twin cities.

Residents in the affected areas reported difficulties accessing the internet, while some users experienced slow or unstable connectivity.

According to the PTA, internet services in the central and southern parts of the country were operating normally. However, some areas in the northern region also experienced connectivity issues.

The regulator said technical teams were working to resolve the problem and restore normal services. It advised users not to be concerned, saying efforts were underway to minimise the disruption.

The PTA cautioned that complete restoration of internet services in the affected areas could take several hours.

The latest disruption comes amid previous instances of internet connectivity problems caused by faults in national and international telecommunications infrastructure. Authorities have previously worked with network operators to reroute traffic and maintain services during such incidents.

The PTA said further updates would be provided as restoration work progresses.
