TEHRAN: Iran has announced that it will continue targeting what it describes as American “aggressive military infrastructure” across the Middle East, claiming fresh attacks on US-linked military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to intensify.
According to Iranian state media, Tehran’s air defense systems were activated amid reports of heightened military activity around the capital. Air defense operations were also reported near Pakdasht and Parchin, while officials confirmed that parts of an airport in the eastern city of Semnan suffered damage during recent strikes. Residents in Khorramabad reported hearing multiple explosions, and fresh attacks were also reported in Khondab, located in Iran’s Markazi province.
Iran’s Ministry of Health said that US strikes over the past week have killed 35 civilians and injured more than 300 people, highlighting the growing humanitarian impact of the escalating conflict.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had shot down a US MQ-9 Reaper drone over the southwestern city of Andimeshk in Khuzestan province. The claim has not been independently verified.
Iranian officials also referred to earlier alleged US strikes targeting southern coastal regions, including Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, Sirik near the Strait of Hormuz, and the southeastern city of Konarak.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei ruled out any immediate negotiations with the United States, saying, “At present, we have no intention of engaging in talks.”
The IRGC said the current phase of its military campaign is focused on destroying US military infrastructure across the region, warning that additional stages of the operation could follow. It also claimed that several American military bases had already been targeted.
Iranian military officials said the 10th phase of “Operation Lightning” targeted US radar installations, Patriot missile defense systems and communication facilities at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain. Similar claims were made regarding Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, where Iranian media alleged that radar systems, Patriot batteries and fuel storage facilities were struck by drones.
State media further reported that the eighth wave of “Nasr 2” targeted a C-RAM early-warning radar system and an area where US personnel were gathered. Tehran also accused Washington of using Kuwaiti territory to launch attacks against Iran and urged the Kuwaiti public to demand the withdrawal of American forces.
In Jordan, Iran claimed that drone strikes under the ninth phase of “Operation Saeqeh” targeted communication systems, a permanent radar station and fuel depots at Azraq Air Base. Iranian officials said the operation was carried out in retaliation for recent attacks on the Bampur military barracks in Iranshahr, where Tehran said seven Iranian soldiers were killed.
Jordan’s military, however, stated that its air defense forces intercepted and destroyed eight Iranian missiles before they reached their intended targets.
The competing claims from both sides could not be independently verified, underscoring the rapidly evolving and highly volatile security situation across the region.
