Ishaq Dar orders inclusion of all active fuel stations

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has directed authorities to ensure that every operational fuel station is included in the government’s fuel subsidy system.

Dar chaired a meeting of the National Steering Committee on Fuel Subsidy, where the committee reviewed progress on the implementation of the subsidy scheme and discussed measures to improve its coverage and accessibility.

According to an official statement, participants were briefed on the use of fuel subsidy tokens at petrol stations. Citizens have started using their allocated tokens at participating fuel stations, while all payment claims received during the last three days have been fully processed and settled.

The meeting also approved a mechanism to facilitate the use of fuel subsidy tokens through SMS in areas where internet connectivity is unavailable or unreliable. The move is aimed at ensuring that beneficiaries in remote and underserved areas can access the scheme without requiring internet services.

The committee further decided that the governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and the provinces would provide lists of operational fuel stations in their respective regions. These lists will help authorities expand the scheme and ensure that eligible fuel stations are incorporated into the system.

During the meeting, Dar directed the relevant authorities to include every active fuel station in the subsidy system. He also instructed officials to identify fuel stations that have remained permanently closed and remove them from the list.

The deputy prime minister stressed the need for accurate and updated records to ensure smooth implementation of the fuel subsidy programme and prevent inactive stations from remaining part of the system.

The steering committee reviewed the progress of the scheme as authorities continue efforts to make the subsidy mechanism more accessible and ensure timely processing of payments to participating fuel stations.
