Pakistani actors have taken part in a humanitarian mission in Jordan to support Palestinian families displaced from Gaza and patients receiving medical treatment in the country.
The five-day visit was organised in collaboration with UK-registered charity SKT Welfare and took place from September 29 to October 3. The delegation included well-known actors Jawed Sheikh, Khaled Anam, Saba Hamid, Shagufta Ejaz, Ally Khan, Kubra Khan, Gohar Rasheed, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Nabeel Zafar.
As part of the mission, the actors helped prepare and distribute more than 500 boxes of essential food supplies to Palestinian families. The aid consisted mainly of non-perishable items.
The delegation also visited Palestinian patients and their families who are currently in Jordan for medical treatment. Several of the families include children who were injured during the conflict or are receiving treatment for serious illnesses.
Khaled Anam shared photographs and videos from the visit on Instagram. He said the group met families whose children were undergoing treatment for conditions including cancer and heart-related illnesses.
The delegation also spent time with children receiving cancer treatment. SKT Welfare arranged games, activities and a hot meal for them.
The gathering gave the children an opportunity to relax and spend time away from the difficulties of medical treatment and displacement.
Anam said the visit allowed the actors to listen to the families, offer comfort and show solidarity with Palestinians affected by the conflict.
SKT Welfare also provides longer-term assistance to Palestinian patients who travel to Jordan for medical care. Its support includes accommodation, meals and transportation to hospitals and medical appointments.
Saba Hamid, Nabeel Zafar and Shagufta Ejaz also posted pictures from the mission on their social media accounts. Their posts showed the delegation distributing aid and interacting with Palestinian families and children.
The visit highlighted the difficult circumstances faced by Palestinian patients who have been forced to leave Gaza for medical treatment. Many continue to live away from their homes while dealing with serious health conditions and the effects of displacement.
