The distribution of cases across different districts indicates that the disease has been reported in several parts of the province, prompting health authorities to continue monitoring suspected and confirmed infections through laboratory surveillance and medical facilities.
According to the report, April witnessed the highest number of mpox cases in Sindh during the current year, with 31 infections recorded during the month. The province subsequently reported 20 cases in September and 17 cases in August.
The Health Department’s surveillance system also recorded cases through different channels of testing and identification. At a hospital located on Stadium Road, samples and tests were conducted for 20 suspected or reported mpox cases. In addition, 26 cases were reported through home visits conducted as part of the surveillance and monitoring process.
The figures highlight the importance of continued disease surveillance, early identification and timely medical consultation, particularly as mpox cases have been reported among different age groups and in multiple areas of Sindh.
Health authorities have urged citizens to remain alert to possible symptoms and seek medical assistance without delay if signs of the disease appear. The department advised people experiencing symptoms to immediately approach a healthcare facility or medical centre for assessment and necessary testing.
Mpox is a viral disease that can cause symptoms including fever, rash and skin lesions, along with other signs of infection. Early medical assessment can help healthcare professionals identify suspected cases and take appropriate measures to prevent further transmission.
