The actress spoke about motherhood while attending the trailer launch of Daayra in Mumbai alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran, Meghna Gulzar and members of the film’s team. Kareena was asked about the film’s sensitive subject involving violence against minors and how the theme affected her as a mother of two boys.

Kareena said that responsibility for creating a safer and more sensitive society lies with both boys and men. As a mother, she acknowledged that she naturally worries about protecting her children while also teaching them to understand their responsibilities.

She emphasized the importance of kindness and emotional openness among boys and men. According to Kareena, society often assumes that girls are naturally more sensitive but she believes boys should also feel comfortable expressing vulnerability.

The actress revealed that she encourages her sons to cry if they feel the need to. She believes that allowing children to experience and express their emotions can help them better understand their feelings rather than suppressing them.

Kareena’s comments reflect a growing conversation around emotional well-being and the importance of teaching children that expressing sadness or vulnerability is not a weakness.

The actress also spoke emotionally about Daayra admitting that some scenes in the film affected her so deeply that she became naturally overwhelmed while performing them.

She recalled one particular scene with a co-star that she described as one of her favourites in the movie. Kareena said the scene was so powerful that she did not need glycerine to create tears. Instead, the dialogue and the emotional weight of the scene were enough to leave her genuinely disturbed and emotional.

She also highlighted the film’s exploration of the social belief that “the girl is always at fault.” Kareena praised Meghna Gulzar’s writing and direction for addressing the issue in a powerful and meaningful way.

Kareena shares Taimur and Jeh with her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan. The couple has frequently attracted public attention because of their family life and approach to parenting.

With Daayra scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 18, Kareena’s remarks have added another layer of interest to the upcoming film, particularly because of its sensitive subject matter and its focus on challenging social attitudes.
