Kohli expressed his grief in a social media post, saying Patekar’s work and legacy would continue to inspire generations. He offered his condolences to the actor and his loved ones.
Patekar died on Thursday at the age of 75 after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Goa. Doctors at Manipal Hospital reportedly attempted to revive him for around 45 minutes before he was pronounced dead.
The actor’s death prompted tributes from across India’s film and sporting communities. Kohli was among several cricketers who remembered Patekar and highlighted the lasting impact of his work.
Patekar had a career spanning nearly five decades across Hindi and Marathi cinema. He became known for his powerful performances and distinctive screen presence, appearing in acclaimed films including Parinda, Krantiveer, Prahar, Khamoshi and Ab Tak Chhappan.
Patekar also had a strong connection with cricket and had previously spoken warmly about Kohli. Following the actor’s death, an old video in which he praised the Indian batter resurfaced on social media, adding another personal dimension to Kohli’s tribute.
