Addressing party workers in Malakand, Afridi said that cases involving PTI founder Imran Khan had not been heard for several months. He also alleged that restrictions were being placed on their movement.

The chief minister said his supporters would reach Islamabad on October 4 regardless of the mode of transport available to them.

“If motorcycles are not available we will use bicycles and if bicycles are not available we will go on foot,” Afridi said while addressing the gathering.

Afridi also spoke about the political situation and criticised what he described as an excessive focus on political positions and office. He said that people who constantly pursue power or public office ultimately diminish their own standing.

Turning to economic conditions, the KP chief minister said the country’s economy was facing difficulties and claimed that workers were struggling to find employment and earn their wages.

Afridi also referred to recent remarks by Junaid Akbar regarding Somnath which had generated a reaction from some quarters. He said Akbar had subsequently provided an explanation although some people remained dissatisfied with his clarification.

The announcement comes amid ongoing political tensions between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government and the federal authorities.

Afridi has also previously offered dialogue with the federal government while continuing to raise concerns over the treatment of PTI leadership and its political activities.

His October 4 announcement signals a planned mobilisation toward the federal capital, although the precise scale and arrangements for the proposed journey were not detailed in the statement.
