Meghan Markle warned not to underestimate Beckham power

Meghan Markle has reportedly been warned against underestimating the influence of David and Victoria Beckham as she and Prince Harry settle back into life in Britain.

The latest claims have reignited attention around the once-friendly relationship between the Sussexes and the Beckhams. According to royal commentator Rob Shuter, writing in his Naughty But Nice Substack, Meghan would be making a “serious mistake” if she underestimated the Beckhams’ position in British society. 

The warning comes as Harry and Meghan return to the UK with their children for an extended stay. Their move has already generated considerable public and media attention, with reports suggesting that the family is approaching this chapter differently from their previous years in Britain. 

A powerful British connection

The Beckhams have built a remarkable network across several industries. David Beckham remains a major figure in football, while Victoria Beckham has established herself as a respected fashion designer. Their connections also extend into entertainment, business, celebrity circles and the royal family.

David was knighted in 2025 and has maintained relationships with senior members of the royal family, further strengthening the family’s standing in Britain. 

Shuter’s reported source claimed that the Beckhams have decades of relationships that Meghan and Harry cannot simply recreate. The insider suggested that if London’s elite social circles were choosing sides, Victoria would have a significant advantage because of her long-established connections. 

How the friendship reportedly changed

Harry and Meghan were once friendly with David and Victoria. The Beckhams even attended the Sussexes’ 2018 wedding.

However, reports have long suggested that the relationship deteriorated after Meghan allegedly suspected that private information had been shared with the media. Harry reportedly confronted David Beckham about the issue, leaving tensions between the families. Later accounts have suggested that Victoria felt deeply offended by the confrontation. 

Royal author Tom Bower has also previously claimed that Meghan believed her royal status placed her higher in the social hierarchy than Victoria. Those claims have added another layer to the long-running story surrounding the two women. 

For now, the alleged rivalry remains largely based on reports, commentary and claims from unnamed sources rather than confirmed statements from either family.

Still, with Harry and Meghan back in Britain, the old Beckham-Sussex tensions are receiving renewed attention. The message from royal commentators is clear: the Beckhams’ influence should not be underestimated.
