Robert Pattinson says Batman 2 fight scenes are tougher with age

Robert Pattinson is once again stepping into the Batsuit for the highly anticipated sequel to The Batman, but the actor has admitted that returning to the physically demanding role has made him more aware of his age.

Pattinson recently revealed that he is spending the rest of the year in London while filming the next chapter of Matt Reeves’ Batman saga. Although he remains enthusiastic about reprising the role of Bruce Wayne, the actor acknowledged that performing the film’s intense fight sequences has become considerably more challenging than it was when he first played the superhero.

Speaking about his experience on the sequel, Pattinson explained that the physical demands of the production have made him realize that he is not recovering or fighting quite as easily as he once did. He joked about feeling his age while working on the action scenes, admitting that the combat sequences are significantly harder for him now.

Despite the physical strain, Pattinson made it clear that he has no regrets about returning as Gotham City’s masked vigilante. The actor described the experience as enjoyable and expressed confidence in the upcoming film, particularly praising the cast assembled for the sequel.

Pattinson originally took on the iconic role in The Batman, which premiered in 2022. Directed by Matt Reeves, the movie offered a darker and more grounded interpretation of the legendary DC Comics character. Rather than presenting Batman as an established superhero, the film followed Bruce Wayne during his second year as the crime-fighting vigilante.

The story began with Batman investigating a series of brutal murders carried out by the Riddler, played by Paul Dano. As Bruce followed the clues, he uncovered a complicated web of corruption involving some of Gotham’s most powerful figures. His investigation also brought him into contact with Selina Kyle, better known as Catwoman, portrayed by Zoë Kravitz.

Another major character was Oswald Cobblepot, or the Penguin, played by Colin Farrell. Farrell’s transformation into the crime boss became one of the most talked-about aspects of the movie and eventually helped set the stage for further stories within Reeves’ version of Gotham.

The first film concluded with Gotham facing a devastating disaster after a massive flood plunged large parts of the city into chaos. Batman was left to confront not only the consequences of the Riddler’s actions but also the responsibility that came with becoming a symbol of hope for Gotham’s people.

Pattinson is expected to return alongside several familiar faces for the sequel. Jeffrey Wright will reprise his role as James Gordon, while Andy Serkis is set to return as Alfred Pennyworth. Farrell is also expected to appear again as the Penguin.

The upcoming movie will introduce several new faces to the franchise as well. Sebastian Stan has been cast as Harvey Dent, a character whose eventual transformation into the villainous Two-Face could potentially become an important part of the wider story. Scarlett Johansson has also joined the project in a role that has not yet been revealed. Charles Dance and Sebastian Koch are additionally attached to the film.

While plot details remain closely guarded, Pattinson’s comments suggest that production is moving forward and that the actor is fully committed to completing the demanding shoot.

The sequel has faced changes to its release schedule. It is currently expected to reach cinemas on February 18, 2028, after previously being planned for an October 1, 2027 release.

For Pattinson, the return to Gotham may be physically tougher than before, but his enthusiasm for the character remains strong. With a larger cast, new characters and Reeves continuing his darker take on Batman, the sequel is shaping up to be another major chapter in Pattinson’s superhero journey.
