Pakistan extend unbeaten run with 3-0 win over China

Pakistan continued their impressive campaign at the 2026 Asian Games men’s hockey tournament with a comfortable 3-0 victory over China in Nagoya on Thursday.

The Green Shirts dominated the contest at the Kawasaki Juko Stadium and secured their third successive win in the competition.

Captain Abubakar Mahmood opened the scoring in the 19th minute, converting a penalty corner to give Pakistan the lead after a goalless opening quarter.

Pakistan quickly strengthened their advantage as Sufyan Khan found the net five minutes later. The goal put China under further pressure as the Pakistani side maintained control of the match.

Hannan Shahid then extended Pakistan’s lead in the 28th minute with a field goal, leaving China with a three-goal deficit.

China struggled to create a response in the remaining minutes, while Pakistan maintained their defensive discipline to complete a convincing victory without conceding a goal.

Pakistan had opened their Asian Games campaign with a dominant 9-0 victory over Thailand before defeating Uzbekistan 5-1.

The three consecutive wins have taken Pakistan to nine points in Pool B. They currently sit second behind Malaysia on goal difference, with Malaysia also having nine points from three matches.

Pakistan will next face Malaysia in their second-last league-stage fixture. The match could have a significant impact on the final Pool B standings as both teams look to secure the top position.
