LAHORE: Police are continuing their investigation into the mysterious deaths of a woman and her three children in Lahore’s Valencia Town, with authorities saying the exact cause of the incident will only be determined after forensic and post-mortem reports are completed.
The deceased were identified as Aleena and her children, Rehan, 16, Aresha, 11, and Arsal, 6. The family had recently returned from the United States and was residing in a rented house in Valencia Town.
Investigators questioned Aleena’s husband, Nasir Dogar, following the discovery of the bodies. After recording his statement, police allowed him to leave as the investigation remains ongoing.
According to police, Dogar stated that he had gone to a nearby market and found his wife and children unconscious upon returning home. They were later pronounced dead.
During questioning, Dogar told investigators that his wife had been struggling with mental health issues for the past three to four years and had been receiving medical treatment over the last six months.
He further claimed that when he arrived home, his wife was still conscious and told him that the children had gone to watch a movie with a relative before her condition suddenly worsened. He said she later lost consciousness, while the bodies of the three children were discovered in another room of the house.
A senior police official said investigators are examining all possible angles. While preliminary findings have raised the possibility that the children may have been poisoned before the woman also consumed the same substance, authorities stressed that no conclusion has been reached.
Police emphasized that the post-mortem examinations and forensic analysis will be crucial in determining the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Further legal action will be taken once the medical and forensic reports are received.
