According to doctors and reports from Indian media, Patekar messaged his friend during the early hours of the morning telling him that he was not feeling well. The friend did not see the message immediately because it was late at night. Patekar later contacted him by phone.

The friend eventually reached the actor’s residence at around 4 a.m. and found him in serious distress reportedly sweating heavily and becoming unresponsive. A caretaker immediately contacted Manipal Hospital and an emergency medical team was sent to the residence.

The medical team began resuscitation efforts including CPR before taking Patekar to the hospital. Doctors continued attempts to revive him for approximately 45 minutes but he could not be saved. He was declared dead at around 5:20 a.m. with cardiac arrest reported as the cause.

The news of Patekar’s sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Indian film industry. Fellow actors, filmmakers and fans have expressed their grief and paid tribute to the acclaimed performer.

Known for his powerful screen presence, distinctive voice and intense performances Patekar enjoyed a career spanning several decades across Hindi and Marathi cinema. He received three National Film Awards and the Padma Shri for his contribution to Indian cinema.

His final hours and the message he sent to his friend have added an emotional dimension to the news of his sudden passing.
