KARACHI: A woman has identified an accused man before a judicial magistrate during proceedings in a case involving an alleged acid attack on her in Karachi.
The identification parade of the suspect, Bilal, was conducted before the Judicial Magistrate Karachi Central. The accused was placed among 10 dummy suspects as part of the formal identification process.
During the proceedings, the magistrate asked the woman to identify the person involved in the incident and describe what he had done. The victim pointed towards Bilal and told the court that he had allegedly thrown acid at her before fleeing the scene.
Police said the woman was travelling to her office with her husband when the accused allegedly attacked her with acid. She suffered burn injuries to her neck and hands in the incident.
According to the police investigation, the woman’s husband allegedly paid Bilal to carry out the attack against his wife. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged arrangement and the motive behind the attack.
Two suspects in the case are currently being held in jail on judicial remand, according to police.
A case has been registered against the suspects at Liaquatabad police station. Investigators are continuing proceedings against those allegedly involved in the attack, while the court will determine their legal status as the case progresses.
