Security forces have killed nine terrorists during intelligence-based operations in several areas of North Waziristan, according to state media.
The operations were conducted in Palangzai, Nadeem Kot and Kot Khazri. Four of the militants killed were described as important commanders.
Security officials said several terrorist hideouts were destroyed during the operations. Weapons and ammunition were also recovered from the militants.
The latest operation comes amid increased militant activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Security forces have conducted a series of operations across the province in recent weeks, targeting militant hideouts and groups involved in attacks.
A day earlier, 13 terrorists were reported killed in an operation in North Waziristan. Five more militants were killed in another operation in the district on Tuesday, while seven were eliminated on October 2.
Security operations have also taken place in other parts of the province. Three terrorists were killed in an operation in Mir Ali on September 30, while five were killed in the Bara area a day earlier. Four militants were also killed in an operation in Dera Ismail Khan on September 28.
The province has witnessed a rise in militant violence. According to security data, KP recorded 54 terrorist attacks in August, compared with 36 in July.
Several deadly attacks have also been reported in recent weeks. A suicide blast at a police checkpost in Darazinda, Dera Ismail Khan, on September 26 killed 12 people and injured 35 others. Another major attack at the old Police Lines in Kohat on September 18 left 23 people dead and around 100 injured.
Security forces have continued operations across KP as part of efforts to prevent further attacks and dismantle militant networks.
