ISLAMABAD : Akhunzada Hussain Yousafzai, spokesperson for the Tehreek Tahafuz Aain-e-Pakistan (TTAP), has said that the opposition alliance has assured Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of its participation in the upcoming long march.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Yousafzai said that the announcement for the long march had been made by the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that he would lead the protest movement.

He said the long march would be led by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, while preparations and other arrangements would be discussed among the opposition parties.

Yousafzai said the opposition leadership was scheduled to travel to Karachi in connection with the death anniversary of Attaullah Mengal. In this context, a proposal had been put forward that the meeting of the Tehreek Tahafuz Aain-e-Pakistan could also be held in Karachi.

According to the spokesperson, the opposition alliance is expected to hold an important meeting on September 15, during which several key decisions will be taken regarding the political strategy of the alliance.

He said the meeting would also review preparations for the proposed long march and assess the progress made so far.

The spokesperson emphasized that the opposition alliance remained engaged in consultations over the upcoming political activities. He said the participating parties would discuss the arrangements required for the long march and coordinate their efforts to ensure effective participation.

Yousafzai’s statement comes as opposition parties continue consultations over their future political course and planned public activities. The proposed long march is expected to bring together opposition groups and supporters in a joint political campaign.

He reiterated that the announcement of the long march had come from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister, who would also lead it. The opposition alliance, meanwhile, would continue discussions on its participation and organizational arrangements.

The spokesperson said the September 15 meeting would be particularly important because the alliance leadership would have an opportunity to review the political situation and make decisions regarding future activities.

The proposal to hold the alliance meeting in Karachi was linked to the opposition leadership’s planned visit to the city for the death anniversary of veteran Baloch politician Attaullah Mengal. Yousafzai said the idea was to make use of the leadership’s presence in Karachi and convene the alliance meeting there.
