Pakistan Single Window introduces remote biometric verification through PakID

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) has introduced a remote biometric verification facility through the National Database and Registration Authority’s (Nadra) PakID mobile application, allowing users to complete the mandatory process through their smartphones.

The new system eliminates the need for eligible users to physically visit a Nadra e-Sahulat Centre for biometric verification linked to PSW services.

Under the new facility, users can complete biometric verification while subscribing to PSW, renewing their subscription or updating their profiles. The service is subject to Nadra’s applicable verification requirements.

Previously, PSW users were required to visit a Nadra e-Sahulat Centre in person to complete the biometric verification process. The integration with the PakID app now allows eligible users to complete the process remotely.

The facility is expected to particularly benefit overseas Pakistanis who conduct trade-related activities in the country. They will be able to complete their required PSW biometric verification from abroad, reducing the need to travel to Pakistan solely for this purpose.

During the transition period, both verification options will remain available. Users can either complete the process digitally through the PakID mobile application or continue using Nadra’s e-Sahulat Centres.

PSW Chief Executive Officer Syed Aftab Haider said the integration was aimed at responding to the needs of users in Pakistan and overseas.

He said remote biometric verification would eliminate another physical step in the onboarding process and make the PSW user journey more convenient and accessible.

According to PSW, the new arrangement removes the only mandatory physical visit previously required during the subscription process. As a result, eligible users can now complete the entire PSW subscription procedure digitally.

The initiative forms part of PSW’s wider efforts to expand digital services, simplify procedures and improve accessibility for businesses and traders.

The integration is also expected to make trade-related services more convenient for overseas Pakistanis and reduce the administrative burden associated with physical verification.
