Chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, stated that India has no option left except attempting to create instability and unrest within Pakistan. He made these remarks while addressing a gathering at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
During his speech, Ashrafi emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and harmony during the holy month of Muharram. He urged people from all schools of thought to celebrate and observe Muharram in a peaceful and respectful manner. According to him, the month of Muharram serves as a powerful reminder of the need for unity, solidarity, and mutual understanding among Muslims. He noted that the lessons of sacrifice, patience, and righteousness associated with Muharram should inspire the nation to strengthen its collective spirit and avoid divisions.
Ashrafi further stated that after what he described as the “Battle of Truth” (“Maarka-e-Haq”), Allah Almighty had granted great honor and dignity to Pakistan. He remarked that the country had earned significant respect on the international stage and that its achievements should be recognized and appreciated. In his view, Pakistan’s role in promoting regional stability and preventing wider conflicts has been of considerable importance.
He also claimed that it was a major distinction for Pakistan that it had helped prevent the outbreak of a third world war. Referring to international diplomatic developments, Ashrafi said that the President of the United States had mentioned the issue of Kashmir on 22 different occasions. He argued that this demonstrated growing international attention toward the long-standing Kashmir dispute and reflected the significance of the issue in global discussions.
Speaking about regional security challenges, Ashrafi alleged that India and Israel spend millions of dollars in efforts aimed at creating unrest and instability within Pakistan. He asserted that various attempts have been made to weaken the country through internal disturbances, but these efforts have not succeeded. According to him, Pakistan has remained resilient in the face of external pressures and hostile activities.
Ashrafi reiterated his view that India’s primary strategy now revolves around promoting instability inside Pakistan because, in his opinion, it has exhausted other options. He stressed that the Pakistani nation must remain united and vigilant against any efforts designed to create divisions or undermine national security.
In addition, he spoke about extremist elements, referring to them as “Khawarij.” He accused such groups of carrying out drone attacks and targeting innocent civilians, including children. Ashrafi condemned these actions in strong terms, describing them as acts of violence that have caused immense suffering. He stated that despite the persistent efforts of Pakistan’s enemies and hostile actors, their objectives are not being achieved.
Concluding his remarks, Ashrafi expressed confidence in Pakistan’s ability to overcome challenges through unity, faith, and national determination. He maintained that the more adversaries attempt to destabilize the country, the more they encounter failure, and he called upon citizens to work together for peace, security, and national progress.
