Karachi: Pakistan’s automobile industry continued its recovery during the fiscal year 2025-26, with overall vehicle sales registering a significant 40% increase compared to the previous year, reflecting stronger consumer demand, improved financing options, and growing business activity.

According to the latest data released by the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), sales of cars, jeeps, pickups, trucks, buses, tractors, motorcycles, and rickshaws recorded healthy growth across most segments during the fiscal year.

The report showed that more than 155,000 passenger vehicles were sold during FY2025-26, highlighting a steady rebound in the country’s auto market after a prolonged period of high inflation, import restrictions, and production disruptions.

On a monthly basis, car sales rose by 13% in June, reaching 15,378 units compared with May, indicating sustained demand despite higher vehicle prices.

The commercial vehicle segment posted one of the strongest performances during the year. Sales of trucks and buses surged 67%, reaching 7,440 units, reflecting increased transportation demand and expanding economic activity.

Similarly, the market for SUVs, jeeps, and pickup trucks remained robust, with sales climbing 41% to 50,814 units during the fiscal year, driven by rising demand from both individual buyers and commercial users.

The two-wheeler segment also continued to expand. According to PAMA, sales of motorcycles and rickshaws increased by 30%, with 1,972,077 units sold during FY2025-26, making it the largest contributor to overall vehicle sales.

Industry analysts attributed the sharp increase in automobile sales to improving consumer purchasing power, easier access to auto financing, relatively stable economic conditions, and the introduction of new vehicle models by manufacturers.

Market experts also noted that stronger business activity boosted demand for commercial vehicles, while improved production capacity and better availability of imported components enabled automakers to meet rising customer demand.
