Pakistan wins PUBG Mobile bronze at Asian Games

Pakistan secured its fifth medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Tuesday after its PUBG Mobile team claimed the bronze medal in the esports competition.

The Pakistani team finished third in the 12-match event with 100 points. Thailand won the gold medal with 128 points, while China took silver after collecting 114 points.

Pakistan sealed the bronze after securing third place in the final match. The team earned 12 points, including four placement points and eight elimination points. Japan won the final match with 18 points, while Thailand finished second with 14.

The PUBG Mobile medal takes Pakistan’s total medal tally at the Games to five. All five medals are bronze. The previous medals came from the women’s cricket team, modern MMA fighter Asim Khan, and squash players Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan.

The women’s cricket team won its bronze medal on September 22 after defeating Bangladesh by 31 runs. Noor Zaman and Ashab Irfan secured bronze medals by reaching the men’s singles squash semi-finals before losing their respective matches.

Pakistan’s PUBG Mobile squad featured Mohammad Huzaifa, Shayan Asad, Falak Sher, Hasnain Rehman and Syed Sameer. The team remained in medal contention after the opening day and produced a strong performance during the final six matches.

Pakistan accumulated 61 points on the second day to finish with 100 points overall. The team had collected 39 points during the first day of competition.

Its strongest performances on the second day included 16 points in the seventh match, 10 points each in the eighth and ninth matches, and 12 points in the 11th and final matches.

Thailand maintained a consistent performance throughout the tournament and finished 28 points ahead of Pakistan. China secured silver with a 14-point advantage over the Pakistani team.

Vietnam and Indonesia ended the competition tied on 95 points. South Korea finished with 71 points, followed by Chinese Taipei with 62 and Jordan with 61.

The bronze medal marks Pakistan’s podium finish in an esports event at the Asian Games. PUBG Mobile was among the esports disciplines included in the Games, with 12 teams competing over two days.

The final standings were determined through the combined scores earned across all 12 matches.
