NEW YORK: Fin.com, a payments infrastructure startup co-founded by Pakistani-born entrepreneur Mustafa Dar, has emerged from stealth with a $20 million seed investment aimed at transforming the way digital and stablecoin-based funds move across international borders.

Dar, who was born in Pakistan and spent part of his childhood in Saudi Arabia before moving with his family to Los Angeles at the age of five, said his personal experience helped shape the company’s mission. He grew up watching his parents navigate the difficulties of sending money back home. His co-founder, Nabeel Alamgir, who was born in Bangladesh, raised in Kuwait and later moved to New York, had a similar experience with cross-border payments.

The funding round closed in August and was led by Expa, the investment firm founded by Uber co-founder Garrett Camp. Coinbase Ventures, Tenet Fund, the founders of Figure, Mesh founder Bam Azizi, Second Sight Ventures, as well as several sovereign and family offices in the Gulf and Africa also participated. The company has not disclosed its valuation.

Fin.com is targeting a major problem in international remittances: while stablecoins have significantly reduced the time and cost involved in moving dollar-denominated value across borders, converting those digital funds into local bank accounts and mobile wallets remains a challenge.

The issue is particularly significant for Pakistan, where remittances represent a major source of foreign exchange and millions of families depend on money sent by relatives working abroad, particularly in Gulf countries and the United Kingdom.

Fin.com aims to address this final stage of the payment process by providing white-label infrastructure to financial institutions, consumer platforms and prediction-market companies. Although the startup has not disclosed the identities of its customers, it said its clients collectively have access to more than 800 million users.

The company’s international footprint reflects its focus on major remittance corridors. In addition to New York and Las Vegas, Fin.com operates from Dubai, Dhaka, Bangalore and Lahore, positioning South Asia, Africa and the Middle East among its key target markets.

The startup is entering an increasingly competitive digital payments industry. Global stablecoin adoption has expanded rapidly, with the stablecoin market surpassing $305 billion in market capitalisation in September, according to DeFiLlama. Major financial technology companies, including Circle and Stripe-owned Bridge, are also developing infrastructure for cross-border digital payments.

Dar joined Fin.com after a career in private aviation and venture investing. He founded private aviation company 24/7 Jet in 2012 and left the business in 2023 before joining Expa as an investor.

Alamgir approached Dar in late 2025 after leaving restaurant-technology company Lunchbox. He travelled to Los Angeles to present the idea behind Fin.com, eventually convincing Dar to join the venture as a co-founder rather than backing it solely as an investor. Expa partner Vitor Lourenço subsequently took Dar’s investment position in the round.

With its headquarters and operational presence spanning both sending and receiving markets, Fin.com is now positioning itself to build payment infrastructure connecting traditional financial accounts with the rapidly expanding digital-asset economy.
