Palestine spotlights Shehbaz’s powerful UN speech

The Palestinian Mission to the United Nations has highlighted key remarks made by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his address to the UN General Assembly, particularly his comments on the suffering of Palestinians in Gaza.

The Palestinian mission shared excerpts from Shehbaz Sharif’s speech on its social media platforms. It said the Pakistani prime minister had given special attention to the situation in Palestine during his address.

Shehbaz Sharif spoke about the suffering of Palestinian women, children and elderly people. He urged the international community to confront the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and reflect on the devastating impact of the ongoing violence on civilians.

During his speech, Shehbaz Sharif recalled the story of Hind Rajab, a Palestinian girl whose death became one of the widely cited tragedies of the Gaza conflict. He said that Hind had previously shared a heartbreaking story before she was killed by Israeli forces.

He said another tragedy had added to the pain of people in Gaza and around the world. Shehbaz Sharif referred to eight-year-old Wafa Aqila, saying that she lost her life amid the ongoing violence.

The prime minister said Wafa’s first day at school became the last day of her life. He used her story to highlight the devastating impact of the conflict on Palestinian children.

“Does a child born in Gaza not have the right to life, a future and dreams?” Shehbaz Sharif asked during his address.

His remarks drew attention to the plight of children living amid the conflict and the broader humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The Palestinian Mission’s decision to prominently share the remarks reflected its focus on statements at the UN that raise the issue of Palestinian civilians and their rights.

US President Donald Trump also shared Shehbaz Sharif’s UN speech, including remarks in which the Pakistani prime minister praised him.
