Petrol subsidy registration messages made free for citizens

ISLAMABAD: The registration message for the government’s petrol subsidy scheme has been made free, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The scheme is providing fuel subsidies to owners of small vehicles across the country as part of the government’s efforts to provide relief amid rising fuel costs.

The government has started providing a Rs100 per-litre relief on petrol under the subsidy programme. However, many citizens had reportedly faced difficulties while registering for the scheme.

The Prime Minister’s Office said the registration message has now been made free to facilitate citizens and help them complete the registration process without incurring additional charges.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has also directed the relevant authorities to guide the public through the registration process and address difficulties faced by applicants.

The fuel subsidy scheme is aimed at reducing the financial burden on people, particularly those who rely on small vehicles for their daily travel.

Citizens welcomed the Rs100 relief on petrol, describing it as a positive step. However, some called for the subsidy to be increased further to provide greater relief amid rising transportation expenses.

They also urged the government to reduce petrol prices directly, saying lower fuel costs would help ease the burden of increasing travel and commuting expenses.
