PML-N Senator Nasir Mehmood Butt condemns violence in AJK

London: Pakistan Muslim League-N Senator and chairman senate standing committee on housing and works Nasir Mehmood Butt has strongly condemned the recent violent protests and attacks on law enforcement personnel in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, stressing that there is no place for violence in any civilised society.

Speaking to Minute Mirror, Senator Butt said that the authorities had already accepted the majority of the protesters’ demands and that negotiations remained the only viable path forward.

He described the recent attacks on law enforcement personnel, which resulted in casualties and the martyrdom of four individuals, as highly condemnable. He urged all stakeholders to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could further destabilise the situation.

The PML-N senator called for strict action against those responsible for violence and attacks on public institutions, stating that peaceful protest is a democratic right but violence cannot be justified under any circumstances.

Senator Butt expressed confidence that the AJK government is willing to engage with all parties and listen to genuine concerns, but emphasised that such issues must be resolved through peaceful dialogue and constitutional means.

Commenting on the political situation, Senator Butt congratulated Pakistan Peoples Party on its victory in the Gilgit-Baltistan Elections. He said the leadership of PML-N and PPP, led by Shehbaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari, is committed to working together to steer Pakistan towards stability, development and prosperity through national unity and political cooperation.
