Islambad: Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) Aftab ur Rehman called on Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House on Friday and briefed him on the corporation’s mandate, ongoing performance, and future plans to promote tourism across the country.
During the meeting, the governor was informed about PTDC’s national tourism vision, promotional strategies, and public outreach programmes aimed at boosting domestic and international tourism.
The briefing also covered the launch of tourism and hospitality services under the “Salaam Pakistan” brand, along with a range of initiatives including tourism symposiums, conferences, promotional activities, tourism investment conferences and expos, the ASEAN–Pakistan Tourism Business Forum, Buddhist Tourism Conference, and the National Tourism Awards 2025.
The governor was also briefed on capacity building programmes for youth, including the National Tour Guides Programme for Chitral, Kalash, and Naran, as well as industrial level training in hotel management and other tourism related sectors.
Plans for the promotion of winter sports and adventure tourism were also shared. It was further noted that 19 PTDC hotels have been handed over to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of Pakistan’s most important provinces in terms of natural beauty, historical heritage, and cultural diversity.
He highlighted the immense potential for both nature based and religious tourism in the province.
The governor said that development of the tourism sector could play a significant role in strengthening the economy and creating new employment opportunities.
He assured full support for promoting tourism, attracting investment, and projecting a positive image of Pakistan at the international level.
Governor Kundi stressed the need to ensure basic facilities, infrastructure development, and effective security arrangements at tourist destinations to provide the best possible experience to domestic and foreign visitors.
He appreciated the efforts of PTDC and said that enhanced coordination between the federal and provincial governments would help make the tourism sector more dynamic and sustainable.
