PTI ends committee boycott, returns to Parliament forums

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has decided to end its boycott of parliamentary and standing committees.

According to party sources, PTI has informed the National Assembly Secretariat about its decision. The party lawmakers believe that returning to the committees will provide them a better platform to raise issues and hold the government accountable.

PTI had earlier boycotted parliamentary proceedings and committee meetings as part of its political strategy. However, the party has now decided to resume participation in committee activities.

The party currently holds the chairmanship of seven National Assembly standing committees. The Speaker of the National Assembly has not accepted the resignations of any committee chairpersons so far.

National Assembly officials confirmed that PTI has communicated its decision regarding its return to the standing committees.

PTI lawmakers said their participation in parliamentary committees would help them play a more effective role in legislative matters and ensure greater scrutiny of government policies.

The decision marks a shift in PTI’s parliamentary approach as the party seeks to use committee platforms for political engagement and accountability.
