PTI has no plan to dissolve KP Assembly, says Barrister Gohar

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has rejected reports that the party is considering dissolving the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly or replacing Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

Speaking about the political situation in the province, Gohar said PTI had no intention of dissolving the provincial assembly. He also ruled out any move to replace the chief minister, saying no consultation had taken place within the party regarding a possible alternative.

Gohar said reports about the dissolution of the assembly and efforts to find a replacement for Sohail Afridi were baseless. He maintained that the PTI leadership remained committed to the existing provincial setup.

He also rejected speculation that Sohail Afridi could be disqualified from holding the office of chief minister. According to Gohar, there was no possibility of bringing another person in his place through any decision currently under discussion within the party.

The PTI chairman further said that the party had not changed its position regarding its planned long march. He confirmed that the decision to hold the protest remained in place.

PTI has announced a long march for October 4 as part of its ongoing political campaign. The party has been demanding the release of its founder, Imran Khan, along with what it describes as the restoration of constitutional supremacy.

Meanwhile, PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said he was not aware of any backchannel negotiations currently taking place between the party and the government.

The statements come amid increasing political tensions between the federal government and the PTI-led KP administration. Recent speculation had suggested that changes could be made to the provincial government, including a possible replacement of the chief minister or dissolution of the assembly.
