FAISALABAD: Central Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja has reiterated his commitment to continuing the political and legal struggle for justice for PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan.

Speaking to the media in Faisalabad, Raja said that the party had once again filed a contempt of court petition and would continue its efforts to seek justice for the PTI founder. He maintained that the party would not abandon its legal and political struggle and would continue raising its voice on issues concerning Imran Khan and his legal cases.

Raja’s remarks come amid continued political tensions surrounding the PTI and the legal proceedings involving its founder. He emphasized that the party would pursue available legal avenues to challenge what it considers unjust treatment and would continue seeking relief through the courts.

Commenting on the debate over the creation of new provinces, the PTI leader said that establishing additional provinces would not resolve the country’s fundamental administrative and governance problems. According to him, the issue was more complex and could not be addressed simply by creating new administrative units.

He specifically referred to Islamabad, saying that the federal capital is directly under the control of the federal government. He suggested that administrative and governance issues in Islamabad should be addressed through appropriate reforms rather than being linked solely to the question of creating new provinces.

Raja also spoke about the recent fire incident at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), expressing serious concern over the deaths and injuries involving newborn children. He said the newborns who suffered injuries in the incident belonged to poor families, highlighting the vulnerability of families relying on public-sector hospitals for healthcare.

Criticising the inquiry process, Raja expressed doubts about whether the investigation committee constituted to probe the PIMS fire would produce any meaningful report. He questioned the composition of the committee and suggested that its formation could raise concerns about the effectiveness and independence of the investigation.

He further pointed out that the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad had been included in the inquiry committee. Raja’s comments indicate that he believes the composition of the committee requires greater scrutiny and that those responsible for the incident should be held accountable.

The PIMS incident has attracted public attention and raised questions about hospital safety, emergency response mechanisms and the protection of vulnerable patients, particularly newborns receiving treatment in critical care facilities. Calls for a transparent and credible investigation have intensified following the incident.

Raja’s statements covered both political and public-interest issues, with the PTI leader stressing that his party would continue its legal struggle for Imran Khan while also raising concerns over governance and institutional accountability.

He reiterated that the contempt of court petition had been filed again and vowed that the PTI would continue its efforts for justice for its founder. At the same time, his criticism of the PIMS inquiry committee reflected broader concerns about whether official investigations into serious incidents can ensure transparency and accountability.
