Punjab CM removes PFA ADG and PRMSC CEO over poor performance

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered immediate action against two senior officers removing them from their positions over alleged poor performance and a misleading briefing regarding government projects.

According to an official document obtained by Minute Mirror, Asadullah, a PAS/BS-18 officer serving as Additional Director General (Operations) of the Punjab Food Authority has been transferred from his post with immediate effect and directed to report to the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) until further orders.

According to sources, Khurram Parvez, Chief Executive Officer of the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company (PRMSC) has also been removed from his position over alleged poor performance.

CM expresses anger over clean drinking water project briefing

Sources said action against Asadullah was taken following a briefing given to the Chief Minister regarding the clean drinking water project. According to sources, the project was presented as performing exceptionally well during the briefing.

However, when the Chief Minister sought details about the ground situation and actual progress, the situation reportedly appeared to be different.

A senior government official said the Chief Minister became highly displeased after an alleged discrepancy emerged between the claims presented in the briefing and the ground realities and directed that Asadullah be immediately removed from his position.

Sources further claimed that despite substantial expenditure on the project, the required progress had not been achieved on the ground.

Khurram Parvez also removed

According to sources, Khurram Parvez has also been removed as head of the Punjab Rural Municipal Services Company. One of the reasons reportedly cited for the action was that despite billions of rupees being spent by the provincial government on rural municipal services during his tenure, the desired results were not achieved.

However, the final determination of responsibility will be made on the basis of the relevant record and government proceedings.

S&GAD issues formal notification

The Punjab Services and General Administration Department issued Notification No. SI.2-2/2026 (D) on September 2, 2026 signed by Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman.

According to the notification, Asadullah has been transferred from the post of Additional Director General (Operations), Punjab Food Authority with immediate effect and directed to report to S&GAD. The notification was issued on behalf of the Governor of Punjab.

Ground verification likely to become mandatory before briefings

According to sources, the Chief Minister’s Secretariat has directed all departments to fully verify ground realities and data before briefing the government about the performance of public projects.

Sources said the government intends to take strict action against allegedly inaccurate figures, unrealistic claims and briefings that do not correspond with actual performance on the ground.

The Punjab government continues to emphasize the effective completion and tangible results of various public projects including clean drinking water initiatives and rural municipal services.
