Rana Sanaullah warns Bilawal’s statements may fuel political tensions

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Adviser on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has expressed concern over recent statements made by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, saying such remarks could create further political tensions in the country.

Speaking during a television interview, Rana Sanaullah described Bilawal’s comments as inappropriate and urged political leaders to adopt a responsible approach while discussing national issues. He said political differences should not turn into personal attacks, especially at a time when the country is facing multiple political and economic challenges.

Referring to Bilawal’s criticism of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Rana Sanaullah said the language used by the PPP chairman was not suitable. He added that leaders seeking to play a national role should focus on unity and constructive dialogue rather than creating divisions. According to him, politics based on confrontation and hostility does not serve the country’s interests.

Rana Sanaullah also rejected any suggestion that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) removes people from the party in an unfair manner. He said the party has never followed a tradition of expelling individuals through personal disputes and has always supported democratic political practices.

Commenting on the issue of the Joint Action Committee in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), he said the decision to declare the committee illegal was taken by AJK Prime Minister Faisal Rathore. He added that the federal government supports this decision and stands behind it. Rana Sanaullah further claimed that Bilawal Bhutto appeared to be indirectly opposing the move through his recent statements.

The remarks come amid growing political debate over the Kashmir issue and the role of federal ministers. A few days earlier, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had demanded the removal of Defence Minister Khawaja Asif from the federal cabinet. Bilawal questioned whether the defence minister’s statement on Kashmir represented the official policy of the government and called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to provide a clear explanation.
