Russian strike kills five in Dnipro

A Russian ballistic missile strike on Ukraine’s Dnipro region has killed five people and forced a steel plant to suspend operations, according to Ukrainian officials.

The attack targeted an industrial facility in the region, causing casualties and disrupting work at the steel plant. Ukrainian authorities said the plant halted operations following the strike as officials assessed the damage and dealt with the aftermath.

The latest attack comes amid continued Russian military operations across Ukraine, with industrial and energy facilities remaining among the sites affected by missile and drone attacks. Ukrainian officials have repeatedly warned that such strikes can disrupt critical production and put civilian workers at risk.

Meanwhile, tensions between Russia and the United Kingdom have also intensified over Britain’s continued support for Ukraine. Moscow has recalled its ambassador to London, Andrei Kelin, as relations between the two countries remain strained.

The Russian Embassy in London confirmed that Kelin is no longer serving as Russia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom. He left the post on July 21, although Moscow has not yet announced a replacement.

Kelin had served as Russia’s ambassador during a period of increasingly difficult relations between Moscow and London. Britain has remained one of Ukraine’s key supporters since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, providing military, financial and diplomatic assistance to Kyiv.

The absence of a successor means Russia’s diplomatic representation in London remains in transition at a time when tensions between the two governments continue to grow. The latest diplomatic move, alongside the deadly strike in Dnipro, highlights the continuing military and political friction surrounding the war in Ukraine.
