Saudi Arabia supports Pakistan and Qatar efforts to de-escalate regional tensions

Speaking during the United Nations General Assembly in New York Prince Faisal said the international community was facing serious challenges and stressed the importance of adhering to the UN Charter.

He said Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region had been affected by Iranian attacks, adding that security in the Gulf region was closely linked to peace energy security and the continuity of supply chains.

The Saudi foreign minister also rejected the use of waterways as tools for political pressure or blackmail and called for the protection of international shipping. He said safeguarding freedom of navigation was a shared international responsibility.

On the Palestinian issue Prince Faisal said Saudi Arabia rejected efforts aimed at displacing or forcibly removing Palestinians. He also criticized obstacles to humanitarian assistance and stressed the importance of protecting Palestinian rights under international law.

He further called for stability in Yemen and the protection of civilians while condemning attacks by the Houthis which he described as a threat to national and regional security.

Prince Faisal also welcomed efforts by the Iraqi government to bring weapons under state control and said Saudi Arabia had played an important role in supporting regional and international trade.

His comments came amid intensified diplomatic activity surrounding regional conflicts. Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt and Türkiye held consultations on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly and emphasized continued coordination in support of peace security and stability.

They advocated for dialogue and diplomacy as the only sustainable paths toward resolution. Additionally they reiterated their support for Yemen’s government in its pursuit of stability and peace.

The Saudi foreign minister’s remarks underline Riyadh’s stated support for diplomatic engagement and regional coordination as countries seek ways to contain escalating tensions.
