Author Anderson writes that the phrase echoed language Bündchen had repeatedly used to describe Brady’s relationship with football. The book says people close to Brady interpreted the post as a reference to his relationship with the sport, with one friend describing it as “the softest middle finger.”

Brady and Bündchen divorced in October 2022 after 13 years of marriage. They have two children, Benjamin and Vivian.

The book also describes Brady’s efforts to save the marriage. It says he told the Tampa Bay Buccaneers he needed to “take care of some personal things” and took an 11-day leave from training camp, which Anderson describes as “one final, desperate attempt to keep his family together.”

Teammates and coaches were reportedly concerned about Brady’s condition after he lost nearly 20 pounds. When he returned, Anderson wrote that his “spirit seemed more broken than before,” describing the period away as having “carved deep canyons into his heart.”
