Tom Cruise’s Top Gun sequel scores huge streaming win

Hollywood star Tom Cruise has shared a heartfelt message with fans following the successful Mexico premiere of his upcoming film Digger.

Cruise took to social media to thank audiences in Mexico City for their enthusiastic response to the new project. The actor attended the special screening alongside filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu, who is directing the film.

Calling the event a privilege, Cruise expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome he received in Mexico City. He also thanked everyone who attended the premiere and supported the film.

The Mexico event followed the global premiere of Digger in London on September 22. Cruise was joined at the star-studded event by the Prince and Princess of Wales.

The London premiere was held at the ODEON Luxe Leicester Square. It also served as the 73rd Royal Film Performance, with proceeds supporting the Film and TV Charity.

Meanwhile, Cruise’s 2022 blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick has reached another milestone on streaming platforms. The action film has reportedly become the second-most-watched movie on Netflix in the United States.

The movie has also continued to perform strongly on Paramount+, where it reached third place globally.

Top Gun: Maverick is a sequel to the 1986 classic Top Gun. Cruise returned as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, one of his most iconic roles.

Both Top Gun films also returned to cinemas earlier this year as part of celebrations marking the original movie’s 40th anniversary. A third instalment is currently in development, with Cruise expected to reprise his role.

Cruise is now preparing for the release of Digger. The highly anticipated film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 2, 2026, adding another major project to the actor’s busy career.
