Punjab Government Colleges record major rise in Intermediate results

Addressing a reception for newly enrolled students at Cholistan University of Animal Sciences, the minister said the average result of government colleges

LAHORE: Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that government colleges across the province have recorded a significant improvement in intermediate examination results this year, with the overall success rate increasing by nearly 11 percentage points.

Addressing a reception for newly enrolled students at Cholistan University of Animal Sciences, the minister said the average result of government colleges rose from 54.84 per cent in 2025 to 65.81 per cent this year.

He attributed the improvement to the education reforms introduced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, saying that the positive impact of the reforms was becoming visible in the academic performance of public-sector colleges.

According to the figures shared by the minister, Attock recorded the highest improvement at 27.30 per cent, followed by Khanewal at 21.73 per cent and Lodhran at 21.68 per cent. Results in Muzaffargarh improved by 19.83 per cent, Chakwal by 19.34 per cent, Jhang by 17.64 per cent and Pakpattan by 17.06 per cent.

Bahawalpur saw a 7.26 per cent improvement, Bahawalnagar 5.91 per cent and Rahim Yar Khan 8.88 per cent. Results also improved in Gujranwala by 2.43 per cent, Gujrat by 4.15 per cent, Hafizabad by 8.27 per cent, Mandi Bahauddin by 14.25 per cent, Narowal by 7.84 per cent, Sialkot by 4.02 per cent and Rawalpindi by 11.95 per cent.

The minister said Jhelum recorded a 5.75 per cent improvement, while Dera Ghazi Khan improved by 7.77 per cent, Layyah by 10.83 per cent, Rajanpur by 8.79 per cent, Lahore by 9.42 per cent, Kasur by 8.19 per cent, Nankana Sahib by 12.35 per cent and Sheikhupura by 8.27 per cent.

Similarly, results improved by 9.62 per cent in Sahiwal, 12.22 per cent in Okara, 7.30 per cent in Faisalabad, 12.60 per cent in Chiniot and 6.66 per cent in Toba Tek Singh.

Multan registered a 12.44 per cent improvement, while Lodhran and Khanewal recorded increases of 21.68 and 21.73 per cent respectively. Vehari improved by 8.07 per cent, Sargodha by 8.32 per cent, Khushab by 6.43 per cent, Mianwali by 15.41 per cent and Bhakkar by 4.86 per cent.

Rana Sikandar Hayat said the improved results reflected better academic performance in government colleges and expressed confidence that the success rate in board examinations would increase further in the coming years as education reforms continued to take effect.
