WhatsApp to stop working on older iPhones from November

If you are using a 10- or 11-year-old iPhone, it may be time to upgrade as WhatsApp support for some older devices will soon end.

According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will discontinue support for certain older iPhone models starting in November 2026.

WhatsApp is regularly updated with new features and security improvements. The report states that from November 30, 2026, some older iPhone models will no longer be able to run the messaging app.

Currently, WhatsApp requires iOS 15.1 or later to function on iPhones. However, in the near future, only devices running iOS 15.5 or later will be supported.

Users of older iPhone models, including the iPhone 6s and later devices will need to update their phones to iOS 15.5 or a newer version in order to continue using WhatsApp. While most iPhones already run iOS 15.5 or later, a significant number of older devices are still operating on outdated software versions.

WhatsApp continues to improve its user interface and privacy settings by introducing features that are compatible with the latest versions of Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android operating systems. As a result, support for older operating systems is gradually phased out.

Earlier reports also indicated that WhatsApp will end support for Android phones running versions older than Android 6 starting on September 8, 2026. After that date, WhatsApp will only work on devices running Android 6 or later.
