Rapper Yung Miami says Drake did not respond after she asked him to feature on a remix of her song “Spend Dat”.

Speaking to radio station Hot 97 in an interview published on Friday, the former City Girls member said she was confused by the lack of a reply.

“Drake left me on read. I’m like, ‘Drake, what did I do?’ I love Drake,” she said. “Just tell me no. I’m good with a no, but leaving me on read?”

Yung Miami said she continued to respect Drake and had never joined the criticism directed at him by others in the music industry. She added that she understood how difficult experiences in the industry could affect an artist’s relationships.

“I’ve always been a Drake fan, always gave him his flowers, personally love Drake, never rode the hate train,” she said. “I personally love him, but I get it. When you go through things in the industry, that’ll make you look at everybody differently.”

Yung Miami released “Spend Dat” in April. Its official remix, featuring Kodak Black and Lil Baby, came out in August. Drake did not feature on the released version.

Yung Miami and Drake have crossed paths before. In 2018, she and fellow City Girls member JT appeared in the music video for Drake’s hit “In My Feelings”.

The rapper had previously approached Drake about another collaboration. In June, she told Cam Newton’s podcast Funky Friday that she had sent him a direct message asking him to feature on “Take Me to Chanel”.

She said Drake had liked the message but had not agreed to the collaboration. At the time, she understood that he might have been dealing with challenges of his own and said she did not take his response personally.

The song, released as “TMTC” featuring Quavo and G Herbo, appeared on her debut solo album, Watch Dis!, released on October 23.
