Zayn Malik celebrates Khai’s sixth birthday as Gigi Hadid takes Milan Fashion Week Runway

Zayn Malik has celebrated his daughter Khai’s sixth birthday with a colourful party in New Jersey, while her mother, supermodel Gigi Hadid, marked the occasion from Italy as she returned to the runway during Milan Fashion Week.

Malik shared a series of photographs from Khai’s birthday celebrations on Instagram, giving fans a rare glimpse into the special occasion. The celebration took place at American Dream in East Rutherford, New Jersey, where Khai and her friends enjoyed rides and activities at Nickelodeon Universe and Hasbro Arcade. Malik thanked the venue for helping make the celebration special, writing that the girls had the “BEST time.”

The colourful celebration featured rainbow decorations and a large birthday cake created by The London Baker. Malik also shared his appreciation for the baker, describing the cake as “epic” and thanking everyone involved in making Khai’s sixth birthday memorable.

Khai is Malik and Hadid’s only child. The former couple welcomed their daughter in September 2020 and have continued to co-parent since ending their relationship. Both stars have generally kept Khai away from the public spotlight, making the birthday photographs a relatively rare look at one of her family milestones.

While Malik was celebrating the milestone with Khai in New Jersey, Hadid was thousands of miles away in Milan, where she took part in one of the opening events of Milan Fashion Week.

On September 22, Hadid opened Vogue World: Milano 2026, walking the runway in a dramatic Valentino Haute Couture gown. According to British Vogue, the Renaissance-inspired look came from Valentino’s Spring/Summer 2025 Haute Couture collection and was one of the first designs Alessandro Michele created as the fashion house’s creative director.

The gown was crafted from recycled Venetian quilts and reportedly required 1,680 hours of handwork. Hadid completed the look with Valentino shoes and Damiani earrings as she led the opening moments of the Milan show.

Vogue World: Milano was held at Milan’s historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and launched on the first day of Milan Fashion Week. The event celebrated Italian fashion, craftsmanship and creativity, bringing together international models and performers for a major showcase in the city.

As Malik shared a glimpse of Khai’s sixth-birthday celebration in New Jersey, Hadid simultaneously made a high-profile return to the Milan runway, placing both parents in the spotlight during an important week for their family and their respective careers.
