KARACHI: Four people, including two brothers, were killed and another was injured when armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on a car in broad daylight in the densely populated Lahori Muhalla area of Larkana, police said.

Police identified the deceased as Allah Waris, Mansoor, Ghulam and Ali Sher Khokhar. The victims were residents of Hassan Wahan village near Naudero and were reportedly involved in a longstanding land dispute with members of their community.

CCTV footage obtained by Minute Mirror purportedly shows one of the attackers approaching the vehicle and firing at its occupants at close range. The footage was reportedly recorded by a person present at the scene rather than by a Safe City camera.

Images and footage from the aftermath show a white Toyota Corolla, registration number BCZ-343, riddled with bullet marks. Several windows were shattered and visible damage was reported on the doors and body of the vehicle.

Police said seven spent shells believed to be from a 13-bore weapon were recovered from the crime scene. The vehicle was taken into police custody as investigators collected forensic evidence and other material relevant to the case.

The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examinations, while the injured person was taken for medical treatment. Police said further legal formalities were being completed.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took notice of the killings and sought a report from the Inspector General of Sindh Police. The IG subsequently directed police to establish blockades and intensify checking across Larkana district and other parts of the province in an effort to trace and arrest the attackers.

Eyewitnesses said the shooting occurred at a busy location during daytime, raising concerns about security arrangements and the ability of armed attackers to escape after carrying out the assault.

Police have launched an investigation into the motive, identities and whereabouts of the suspects, while efforts are underway to trace their motorcycle and establish their movements before and after the attack.
