ISLAMABAD: Financial approvals under the Prime Minister’s Apna Ghar Programme have crossed Rs313 billion, showing a sharp rise in housing finance activity over the past two months.
Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Schehzad said the programme had recorded significant growth since June this year.
According to the latest figures, more than 53,100 housing loans have been approved under the initiative. The number represents an increase of 111 percent during the period.
The value of approved financing has also increased substantially. Financial approvals have risen by 117 percent in just two months, taking the total beyond Rs313 billion.
More than Rs45 billion has already been disbursed to beneficiaries under the programme. Disbursements have recorded a 120 percent increase, reflecting stronger implementation and growing demand for housing finance.
Khurram Schehzad said the programme was gaining considerable momentum. He noted that the initiative was expanding access to affordable housing finance for people across Pakistan.
The programme is also expected to support activity in the wider housing and construction sector. Increased availability of housing finance can generate demand for construction, building materials and related services.
The government has been promoting the Apna Ghar initiative as a means of making housing finance more accessible. The programme aims to help eligible citizens secure financing for residential needs.
The latest figures indicate a rapid increase in both loan approvals and actual disbursements. The government is now seeking to maintain this momentum and broaden access to housing finance.
Officials believe stronger financing activity could also contribute to economic activity linked to the construction and housing industries.
The rise in approvals and disbursements marks a significant expansion of the programme since June. The government is expected to continue monitoring its implementation to ensure that approved financing reaches eligible applicants.
