PESHAWAR: Funeral prayers for Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Constable Muhammad Afaq, who was martyred during an operation in the jurisdiction of Mathra Police Station, were offered with full official honours at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar.

Constable Muhammad Afaq embraced martyrdom while performing his duty during a CTD operation in the Ghari Sherdad area along Warsak Road. His funeral ceremony was attended by senior civil, military and police officials, along with members of the martyr’s family and other mourners.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed, Information Minister Shafi Jan, Provincial Minister Tariq Saeed Marwat and MNA Arbab Sher Ali were among those who attended the funeral.

Senior security officials, including the Additional Inspector General of CTD, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Commander 102 Brigade and Chief Traffic Officer, also participated in the funeral proceedings. Officers and personnel of the Pakistan Army and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police were present to pay their respects to the fallen police official.

A smartly turned-out contingent of the police presented a ceremonial salute to Constable Muhammad Afaq in recognition of his service and sacrifice in the line of duty.

Following the funeral prayers, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, IGP Zulfiqar Hameed, provincial ministers, senior CTD officials, the CCPO Peshawar and representatives of the Pakistan Army laid floral wreaths on the coffin of the martyred constable.

The participants also offered prayers for the forgiveness of the martyr and for his elevation in ranks in Jannah. The ceremony was marked by solemnity as colleagues, senior officers and family members paid tribute to the police constable who lost his life while taking part in an operation against suspected militants.

The martyr’s family members were also present at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines during the funeral. Senior officials expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and acknowledged the sacrifice made by Constable Muhammad Afaq while carrying out his professional responsibilities.

The participation of senior government, police and military officials reflected the official recognition of the sacrifice of the CTD constable and the risks faced by law-enforcement personnel during counterterrorism operations.

Police officials reiterated that personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department continue to perform their duties in challenging circumstances to protect citizens and maintain security across the province.

The funeral ceremony concluded with prayers for the departed soul and tributes from the police and security officials present.

Constable Muhammad Afaq’s burial and funeral proceedings were conducted with the full ceremonial honours accorded to a police martyr, with his fellow officers paying their final respects at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines in Peshawar.
