Earthquake shakes Chaman, no damage reported

An earthquake of magnitude 3.8 jolted Chaman and surrounding areas in Balochistan on Wednesday, causing brief panic among residents but leaving no reports of casualties or property damage.

According to the seismic monitoring centre, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 12 kilometres. Officials said the epicentre was located near Chaman, resulting in tremors being felt across the city and nearby localities.

The tremors startled residents, with many people rushing out of their homes, shops and other buildings as a precaution. Several residents gathered in open areas and recited the Kalma Tayyaba after feeling the ground shake.

The earthquake lasted only briefly, but its sudden occurrence caused concern among people in the affected areas. Residents remained outdoors for some time before gradually returning to their homes and businesses.

Authorities have not reported any deaths, injuries or damage to buildings and other infrastructure following the tremors. Officials continue to monitor the situation, while no immediate aftershocks of significant intensity have been reported.

Earthquakes occur frequently in parts of Balochistan because the province lies in a seismically active region. Chaman and surrounding areas have experienced tremors of varying intensity in the past, although the impact differs depending on the magnitude and depth of each earthquake.

Residents have been advised to remain calm and follow safety precautions in case of further tremors. The latest earthquake, despite triggering fear among residents, did not cause any reported loss of life or significant material damage.
