Hannah Waddingham’s Ride or Die cancelled after one season

Hannah Waddingham’s comedy-action series Ride or Die has been cancelled after its first season, despite performing strongly on Prime Video and receiving a positive response from viewers and critics.

The series, which also stars Octavia Spencer, was regarded as one of the streaming platform’s notable hits of the summer. However, Prime Video has decided not to order a second season.

According to reports, Paramount Television Studios, which serves as the series’ lead studio, is now looking for another platform or network that may be interested in continuing the show.

Ride or Die made an encouraging debut on the Nielsen Weekly Top 10 streaming chart, entering at No. 8 before rising to No. 4 in its second week. The series was also reportedly Prime Video’s most-watched new scripted series in the United States during the first 14 days of its release through July 2026.

The show also received favourable ratings from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes.

The story centres on best friends Debbie Claybourne, played by Spencer, and Judith Burton, portrayed by Waddingham. Debbie believes she knows everything about her longtime friend, only to discover that Judith is secretly an international assassin.

Their lives take a dangerous turn when a mysterious figure from Judith’s past resurfaces and a mission goes wrong. The two friends are then forced to go on the run together while trying to survive the threats surrounding them.

The first season concluded with several unresolved storylines and cliffhangers that appeared to set the stage for a second season. However, with Prime Video cancelling the series, fans may now be left without answers unless another platform decides to revive the show.
