Inspector Jamshed film releases first trailer worldwide

LAHORE – One of the most iconic detective characters in Pakistani literature, Inspector Jamshed is set to appear on the global screen as the first trailer for IJ: The Secret Parchment has been released. The film presents a mysterious story combining investigation, action, family relationships and intelligence.

Umair Rana plays the lead role of Inspector Jamshed. The released trailer places the Jamshed family at the center of the story while the film’s central secret and major mystery have been kept under wraps.

New adaptation of Ishtiaq Ahmed’s popular character

IJ: The Secret Parchment is inspired by the Inspector Jamshed series created by renowned Pakistani writer Ishtiaq Ahmed. During his literary career, Ishtiaq Ahmed wrote 796 novels and his detective stories remained popular among generations of readers.

According to the filmmakers, the character of Inspector Jamshed has been reimagined in a modern style for global audiences while retaining his core qualities including his powers of observation, integrity, commitment to knowledge and strong bond with his family.

Professor Dawood also plays an important role in the story while Khan Rehman joins the investigation as Inspector Jamshed’s longtime friend and trusted companion.

Major cast featuring Pakistani and international artists

The cast includes Ahad Raza Mir as Behzad, Faran Tahir as Zafar Iqbal Barkhi, Asif Raza Mir as Khan Rehman, Anoushey Abbasi as Shakeela Begum (Mrs. Jamshed) and Jad Hadid as Sub-Inspector Ikram.

In addition, Rawal Imran, Ahmed Harkous and Alain Harkous play Mahmood, Farooq and Farzana, respectively representing the younger generation of the Jamshed family. The film features artists and crew members from 13 different nationalities giving its cast and production an international character.

104 days of filming in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

The film was shot at more than 30 locations across Abu Dhabi and Dubai with production continuing for approximately 104 days. Locations used for filming included Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed University, Masdar City, Reem Island, Aldar Headquarters, Al Khatim Desert and Sheikh Zayed Bridge among several other prominent sites.

Around 1,300 people were involved in the overall production. The film was shot using large-format ARRI anamorphic lenses and has also been prepared for Dolby Atmos sound.

International experts brought on board

International experts were hired for the film’s action and stunt sequences. Stunt director George Kirby has credits including Game of Thrones, The Batman and Doctor Strange.

Similarly, the Andy Long Stunt Team contributed its expertise in martial arts and stunt action while action director Amr McGyver supervised the film’s car-action, driving and chase sequences.

The film’s visual world was developed by art director Jordane Chedotal whose previous work includes Dune: Part Two, Star Trek Beyond and Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Umair Rana: Inspector Jamshed is thoughtful and disciplined character

Umair Rana who plays Inspector Jamshed said that the character is already familiar to and loved by many people. According to him, he has attempted to portray Jamshed as an intelligent and disciplined person whose real strength lies in observation and intelligence rather than noise or physical power.

Director Fahad Noor said the real challenge was not simply to expand Inspector Jamshed’s world but to preserve the fundamental elements that made the character popular. According to him, clues, danger and the role of family are central to the story.

Screenwriter Eric Berg said that at this stage, Inspector Jamshed is no longer limited to one nation but is intended for audiences around the world.

Preparations underway for global release

Executive producer Muhammad Adnan Butt said the film aims to introduce to the world a hero who has lived in the imagination of Pakistani readers for decades. He said the film seeks to pay tribute to Ishtiaq Ahmed’s literary legacy while bringing it to audiences around the world.

IJ: The Secret Parchment is directed by Fahad Noor and produced by Dot Republic Media, CreatorsOne Studios and Walnut Media.

The film is planned for an initial worldwide theatrical release, followed by a release on an OTT platform. The first trailer for IJ: The Secret Parchment is now available on its official platforms.
