Jamaat-e-Islami leader Hafiz Muhammad Idrees passes away

Former deputy chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees, has passed away after suffering from illness for several weeks.

According to a spokesperson for Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees had been unwell for some time. His funeral prayer will be offered today after Isha prayers at Jamia Masjid Mansoorah in Lahore.

Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman expressed deep sorrow over his death and extended his condolences to the bereaved family.

Hafiz Muhammad Idrees was a prominent religious scholar, influential speaker and senior leader of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan. He dedicated his life to religious outreach, ideological education and the political and organisational struggle of the party.

Throughout his long association with Jamaat-e-Islami, he held several key leadership positions, including deputy emir, central Qayyim (secretary-general) and emir of Punjab. He carried out these responsibilities and played an important role in strengthening the party’s organisational structure and ideological foundations.

Known for his powerful oratory and extensive knowledge of Islamic teachings, Hafiz Muhammad Idrees also authored several books on the Quran, Hadith and the life of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Through his speeches, writings and educational efforts, he contributed to the religious and intellectual development of numerous young people.

His death has prompted an outpouring of grief among Jamaat-e-Islami members and supporters, who have described his passing as a significant loss for the party’s religious and ideological work.

Party leaders and workers are expected to attend his funeral prayer at Mansoorah, where they will pay their final respects to the late scholar and senior leader.
