Lahore: Police in Lahore have arrested a man on allegations of organizing a group of people for a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protest sit-in in Islamabad. Police said a case of sedition has also been registered against two people, including a woman based on the arrested suspect’s initial statement.
According to police, the suspect told investigators that a woman had assigned him the task of organizing a group for the protest and arranging training for young people who were allegedly expected to participate in the demonstration.
Police further claimed that an audio recording allegedly involving the woman was recovered from the suspect’s mobile phone. Investigators are examining the recording and other material as part of the ongoing inquiry.
During the police operation, three alleged associates of the arrested suspect reportedly managed to escape. Police said efforts were underway to locate and arrest them.
Authorities said further legal action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Police have not yet publicly disclosed the full details of the evidence being examined or provided an independent account of the allegations attributed to the suspects.
