ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly has approved more than Rs407.41 trillion in charged expenditures for the fiscal year 2026-27 after completing debate on the budgetary allocations.
As these expenditures fall under constitutional provisions, they were approved without a formal vote in the House.
The approved allocations include Rs50 million for Pakistan Post Office and Rs6.93 billion for allowances and pensions.
The National Assembly approved Rs7.96 billion for its own expenditures, while the Senate was allocated Rs6.45 billion. An additional Rs57 billion was approved under grants, aid, and miscellaneous expenditures.
A major portion of the approved spending relates to debt obligations. The House approved Rs58.36 trillion for repayment of foreign loans and more than Rs10.71 trillion for servicing external debt.
The Assembly also approved Rs130 billion for repayment of short-term external loans and over Rs607 billion for foreign development loans and advances obtained by the federal government.
For domestic debt repayment, expenditures amounting to Rs259 trillion were approved. The budget also includes more than Rs2.8 billion for the President’s Secretariat, household staff, and allowances.

The judiciary also received significant allocations, including Rs7.44 billion for the Supreme Court, Rs6 billion for the Federal Constitutional Court, and over Rs2.36 billion for the Islamabad High Court.
Additionally, the National Assembly approved Rs2 billion for the Federal Ombudsman, Rs640 million for the Federal Tax Ombudsman, and more than Rs250 million for the Federal Ombudsperson Secretariat for Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace.
