One terrorist killed in security operation near Pakistan-Iran border

QUETTA: Security forces have killed a terrorist during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kech district, security sources said on Friday.

The operation was conducted in the Mazaband Range area near the Pakistan-Iran border after authorities received information about the movement of suspected militants in the region.

According to security sources, troops acted on the intelligence and launched an operation against the suspected terrorists. The militants reportedly attempted to escape towards Iran but security forces foiled their attempt.

One terrorist affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan was killed during the operation, the sources said.

Security forces said operations against militant groups would continue as part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts in Balochistan. They added that intelligence-based operations were being carried out to prevent militants from carrying out attacks and using border areas as escape routes.

The operation was conducted under the broader Radd-ul-Fitna-3 campaign, which is aimed at targeting militant networks involved in terrorist activities across the country.

Balochistan has witnessed a number of security operations in recent weeks. Authorities have intensified intelligence-based actions in several districts following attacks targeting civilians, security personnel and public infrastructure.

Earlier, security forces had also conducted operations in areas including Kalat and Panjgur, killing several suspected terrorists and recovering weapons and ammunition.

Officials have maintained that security operations will continue against militant groups operating in the province.
