Pakistan has launched two separate joint military exercises with Russia and Oman to enhance counter-terrorism capabilities and strengthen defence cooperation.

The ninth edition of the Pakistan-Russia joint exercise, Druzhba-IX, began at Cherat on Tuesday. At the same time, the second edition of the Pakistan-Oman joint exercise, Washaq Al Jabal-II (Mountain Lynx-II), started at the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) in Pabbi.

The two-week exercises involve troops from the Pakistan Army, Russian Army and Royal Army of Oman. The participating forces will train together and share their operational experience during the exercises.

The drills are focused on improving counter-terrorism procedures and developing greater coordination between the participating forces. The troops will also exchange professional knowledge and best practices.
The joint training will provide the participating contingents with an opportunity to improve their combat skills and tactical capabilities through practical exercises.
The exercises are also aimed at strengthening military-to-military ties between Pakistan and its partner countries and improving interoperability among their armed forces.
