Russian envoy, Raja Nasir Abbas discuss closer ties

Russian Ambassador to Pakistan Albert P. Khorev held a meeting with Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Pakistan and Chairman of the Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM), on September 10.

The meeting focused on bilateral relations and regional cooperation between Pakistan and Russia. The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen ties in several areas of mutual interest.

Particular attention was given to humanitarian cooperation and people-to-people contacts. The discussions also covered scientific, educational and cultural relations, with both sides highlighting the importance of expanding cooperation in these fields.

Ambassador Khorev expressed hope that political differences in Pakistan would be resolved through peaceful means. He also stressed the importance of developing a broad national consensus in the interests of the Pakistani people.

During the meeting, Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri appreciated Russia’s efforts to support peace and stability in the region. He also acknowledged Moscow’s role in promoting greater cooperation among countries across the Eurasian region.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss areas where Pakistan and Russia can further enhance engagement. Both sides underscored the importance of continued dialogue and cooperation to strengthen bilateral and regional ties.
